By donating you are making it possible for us to continue our mission of providing shelter and medical care for homeless animals, facilitate permanent placements, provide community outreach and education, reduce unwanted litters through accessible spay/neuter programs, and offer short- and long-term housing solutions for family pets in need. 

With rising costs and so may animals in need SCHS relies solely on your donations to keep afloat.

Our shelter is able to keep its animals healthy and happy simply because we believe we have the best volunteers. When you volunteer at the humane society you offer not only a clean environment but also a loving presence to the animals in our care. When you volunteer it allows SCHS to continue doing what we all do best. RESCUE ANIMALS!

Some animals come to us that need medical attention or surgery and our clinic at the shelter does not have the staff or equipment to care for that pet.

That is when we turn to Animal Hospital of Lakeport and South Sanilac Veterinary Hospital in Melvin. Those special surgeries, long-term care and meds, add up quickly.

This is how the program works:

Your $50.00 donation will help with the care and shelter of one of the shelter animals.

To become a PAW Pal for a dog or cat in the shelter, you can complete the PAW PAL donation form and mail it with your check payable to SCHS.

OR - Using a debit or credit card, click the donate tab. Note in the comments that your donation is for your PAW PAL.

SCHS will send you a PAW PAL certificate that will include the sponsored pet’s photo and bio. We will notify you of the Happiest Day when your PAW PAL is adopted!
