Cat of The Week

July 14, 2025

Meet Gandalf, a sweet and affectionate boy who is around 5 years old. He loves catnip, canned food, cuddles, butt scratches, and being his people’s furry shadow. Gandolf is looking for a loving furever home, and he’s ready to be someone’s best friend!! Gandalf loves other cats and does well with cat-friendly dogs.

This pet is currently located at the Fort Gratiot PetSmart. You will need an approved application and an appointment to meet him.

Since Gandalf is FIV positive, ideally, he is looking for a home where he is the only cat, or there are other FIV cats. FIV cats can live with non-FIV cats in a calm household. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds (bad fights).

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common infectious diseases of cats around the world. In infected cats, FIV attacks the immune system, much like AIDS in humans. Though there is no cure for FIV, recent studies suggest that cats with FIV commonly live average life spans.

Please call the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Please email the shelter at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application.

The adoption fee for this cat is $50.00

Melody is an energetic and sweet 3.5-year-old girl. She is 46 pounds and loves treats, toys, butt scratches, and being told she’s pretty. Melody is looking for a family that loves to play and go for walks as much as she does. She would prefer a home with a fenced-in yard. Melody has lived with other dogs but will need to do a meet and greet with any potential friends.

Available for pre-adoption and can go home after she is spayed.

Please call the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Please email the shelter at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application.

All of our dogs are fixed, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, de-wormed, treated for fleas, heartworm tested, and on heartworm and flea preventative.

Hi! I’m Ken! I’m a sweet and super social boy who is around 9 years old. I love affection and being with people. A fun fact about me is that I have a bobbed tail! We don’t know why (it was probably from a past accident), but everyone thinks it’s cool.

Please contact the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Email the shelter at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application to adopt.

All of our cats are fixed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, treated for fleas and placed on a flea preventative, as well as tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.

Ladybug is a sweet 3-year-old girl who is 37 pounds and full of energy! She is looking for an active family who loves to do things as much as she does. Ladybug has been known to go on solo adventures, so a fenced-in yard would be preferred. She has lived with other dogs in the past.

Available as Foster to Adopt. She can go home, but will need to be brought back to the shelter to be spayed.

Please call the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Please email the shelter at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application.

Patrick is a sweet 5-year-old boy with a gentle soul. He loves chin scratches, catnip mice, food of all kinds, being talked to, and having his forehead rubbed. Patrick would love to spend the rest of his days lounging on the back of your couch watching TV with you. Patrick does not mind laid-back cats that respect his space, but he would be happiest as an only child. He does NOT like dogs.

Since Patrick is FIV positive, ideally, he is looking for a home where he is the only cat, or there are other FIV cats. FIV cats can live with non-FIV cats in a calm household. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds (bad fights).

What do you get when a pig and a potato combine? Me! Hi, I’m Betty! I’m around 2 years old and I’m ready to meet new friends and find my furever family. I’m a social butterfly and have never met a stranger. I love everyone. My favorite things are walks, cuddles, air conditioning, and snacks. I seem to do well with other dogs, but I am very playful and seem to be a dominant personality. I will need a meet and greet with any current dog friends. Unfortunately, I have too high of a prey drive to live with cats.

Available for Foster to Adopt. She can go home, but will have to come back to the shelter for her spay appointment.

Please call the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Please email the shelter at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application.
