Dog of The Week

April 14, 2025

Hello! I’m Shingle and I am looking for a new home. I’m 10.5 years old, and people say I am the sweetest boy. I like snacks (boiled eggs are my favorite), walks, and relaxing with my people. I’m a sensitive soul, and carrying around a stuffy is on of my favorite things. I will need a meet and greet with all current dogs. I would do best in a home with kids over the age of 8.

Please contact the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Email us at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application to adopt.

All our dogs are fixed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, treated for fleas, micro-chipped, tested for heartworm and placed on a heart worm and flea preventative.

WE DO NOT DNA TEST – ALL OF OUR PETS ARE MIXED BREEDS AND WILL LOVE YOU JUST AS MUCH!

The adoption fee for this senior is $120.00.

Cat of the week

Patrick is a sweet 5-year-old boy with a gentle soul. He loves chin scratches and having his forehead rubbed.

Since Patrick is FIV positive, ideally, he is looking for a home where he is the only cat, or there are other FIV cats. FIV cats can live with non-FIV cats in a calm household. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds (bad fights).

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common infectious diseases of cats around the world. In infected cats, FIV attacks the immune system, much like AIDS in humans. Though there is no cure for FIV, recent studies suggest that cats with FIV commonly live average life spans.

Please call the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Please email the shelter at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application.

Luna is a 7 year old black lab/shepherd mix. She is incredibly loving and affectionate. Luna loves attention and will happily lay in your lap if allowed. Despite her size, she is truly a big lap dog. Luna is currently 87 pounds but needs to lose some weight. She is extremely playful and almost always has a toy in her mouth. Luna is ready to be someone’s cuddle buddy again!

Please contact the shelter at 810-657-8962 for more information. Email us at societypets@att.net or visit us at sanilaccountyhumanesociety.org for an application to adopt. A

Cat of The Week

March 31, 2025

Octavius is a sweet and cuddly 2-year-old boy. In his foster home, he loved spending his days chasing cat toys around, cuddling on the couch, and being one of the dogs. He has lived with dogs and other cats.

This pet is currently located at the Fort Gratiot PetSmart.

New research has shown that FIV-positive cats are very adoptable, and can live the same lifespan as an FIV-negative cat. Studies show that FIV cats can live safely with non-FIV cats. FIV is spread through deep bite wounds and sex. Meaning that a fixed FIV cat living in a friendly household is unlikely to ever spread the virus to their housemates.

Hello! I’m Shingle and I am looking for a new home. I’m 10.5 years old, and people say I am the sweetest boy. I like snacks (boiled eggs are my favorite), walks, and relaxing with my people. I’m a nervous boy sometimes, but I try very hard to be brave. I’m a sensitive soul, and carrying around a stuffy helps. The only other dog I am used to is my brother, and I seem very dog selective. I would do best in a home with kids over the age of 12.

Cat of The Week

Pearl is a sweet 2-year-old girl who is looking for a loving furever home. She is very shy in new places and with new people, but once she feels comfortable with someone, she is the biggest love. Pearl may not be the bravest soul but she is one of the prettiest. She loves other cats and would do best in a laidback household with another cat (or 2 ). Pearl just needs time, love, and patience and she will be the purrfect feline companion.

All our cats are fixed, micro-chipped, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, treated for, and on flea preventative, as well as tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
